Minutes, 1814-1817.

Minutes book, 1814 Dec. 25-1817 June 28, of the company. The first entry is the articles of agreement made by the subscribers for the Pine Level purchase. In that agreement rules were made for the purchasing of land, the duties of the commissioners and the officers were detailed, and the general location of the two quarter-sections of land to be purchased were described. At the end of the articles of agreement is appended a list of the subscribers, including their names and the number of shares each owned in the company. The minutes themselves detail primarily the resolutions enacted by the commission regarding land sales, surveying, transfers, and foreclosures, as well as the settling of claims between landowners, the laying out of streets, the setting aside of land for churches and schools, and other matters. In addition, there is a list of purchasers of the town of Jackson (pp. 46-49), money received by the Jackson Company from 1816 May to 1816 March, and a diagram of a lot plan. Some memoranda and outgoing correspondence are also copied into the volume.
